2. Verify Metal and Gemstone Quality

Look for clear, specific information about what a piece is actually made of, not vague terms like "gold-tone" or "premium finish." This matters most for rings and necklaces where weight, finish, and stone setting affect how the piece wears and lasts over years, not just weeks.

For diamonds and gemstones, look for grading details: cut, clarity, color. A brand that can't produce these on request usually can't back up its quality claims either.

3. Check Pricing Against Market Value
